We exceded our goal 1,609 hours

THANK YOU for working together to make the world a better place!

For the past two months, members of the El Cajon Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have worked tirelessly toward our National Day of Service Stake goal of collectively giving 911 hours of service by 9/11. 

Reports of service hours trickled in slowly at first, but what a love we have for our dear members who in the end, selflessly gave over 1,609 hours of service during our Stake's National Day of Service Initiative!! 

Together we have united to keep our promise to never forget all of the heroes who served and sacrificed everything during the 9/11 attacks.

Along with serving our beloved family and friends, the following organizations also felt love from the El Cajon Stake members during our 9/11 Initiative:

We want to recognize that we do not serve to boast in ourselves or to seek praise.  We serve because we love our neighbors and know that “when we are in the service of our fellowmen we are in the service of our God.” (Mosiah 2:17) 

Sister Andrea Munoz Spannaus, second counselor in the Young Women general presidency said “ I love the fact that every time we help others or serve, something is transformed inside of us. Something is changing in our hearts and minds, and I love that we can become a better person just by serving.”

We hope as our stake collectively serves our community it will increase the unity and love we have with each other and change individual hearts to draw us all closer to our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Durante los últimos dos meses, los miembros de la Estaca de El Cajon de La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días han trabajado incansablemente para alcanzar nuestra meta de servicio en el Día Nacional de Servicio de la Estaca: dar colectivamente 911 horas de servicio antes del 11 de septiembre.

Al principio, los informes de horas de servicio llegaban lentamente, pero ¡qué amor sentimos por nuestros queridos miembros que, al final, ofrecieron desinteresadamente más de 1,609 horas de servicio durante la Iniciativa del Día Nacional de Servicio de nuestra Estaca!

Juntos nos hemos unido para cumplir nuestra promesa de nunca olvidar a todos los héroes que sirvieron y sacrificaron todo durante los ataques del 11 de septiembre.

Además de servir a nuestros queridos familiares y amigos, las siguientes organizaciones también recibieron el amor de los miembros de la Estaca de El Cajon durante nuestra Iniciativa del 11 de septiembre:

Queremos reconocer que no servimos para vanagloriarnos de nosotros mismos ni para buscar alabanzas.  Servimos porque amamos a nuestro prójimo y sabemos que "cuando estamos al servicio de nuestros semejantes estamos al servicio de nuestro Dios". (Mosíah 2:17) La hermana Andrea Muñoz Spannaus, segunda consejera de la presidencia general de las Mujeres Jóvenes, dijo: "Me encanta el hecho de que cada vez que ayudamos a los demás o servimos, algo se transforma dentro de nosotras. Algo cambia en nuestros corazones y mentes, y me encanta que podamos convertirnos en mejores personas con sólo servir".

Esperamos que a medida que nuestra estaca sirva colectivamente a nuestra comunidad aumente la unidad y el amor que nos tenemos unos a otros y cambie los corazones individuales para acercarnos todos más a nuestro Salvador.
