Stake Relief Society Women’s Conference Report

On Saturday, March 16th, the Stake Relief Society held a Women’s Conference.  The theme was “Come Light Your Lamp.”  As the sisters entered the Cultural Hall they saw beautiful paintings of the Savior adorned on the stage surrounded by lighted candles.  There were 180 sisters who gathered together to celebrate the 182nd Relief Society Birthday.  Our newest sisters from Brawley, El Centro, Imperial, and Calexico traveled to share in the celebration and many new friendships were formed.

Keynote speaker, Justin Thomas, energized our group by promoting discussion on how we should treat others, applying Christ’s attributes, and not judging or encouraging contention.  His talk was followed by 3 class rotations and a luncheon.  Sisters could choose from 5 classes: “All We Need to do is Plant the Seed!”, “Eat Well, Live Well, Be Well”, “Protecting Yourself and Your Family”, “Tidy Room, Tidy Mind”, and “Cooking Lumpias”, which were served with lunch.  Sisters brought food for the Stake Food Drive and filled 2 barrels to be donated to the San Diego Food Bank.

The Superhero Cape service project ran throughout the morning and 101 capes were sent back with our El Centro sisters to deliver to the Imperial Valley Center for Exceptional Resource Center.  The children were happy to show their superhero side and we appreciate the photos that were sent.  We thank the sisters who came and supported the event.  A special thank you to the superhero sisters on the committee who shared ideas, donated time, and energy, translated, and remained cheerful until the end!!

We love you all,

Connie, Pat, Shauna, and Candi
